On September 4, 2024, the 1st Leaders Assembly, a high-level meeting designed to establish foundational directions for GINI’s operations and enhance cooperation among members, was held in the boardrooms of the Daejeon Convention Center.

Representatives from GINI’s founding members participated in the meeting, including Mr. Jang-Woo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon (Republic of Korea); Mr. Marc Elrich, County Executive of Montgomery County, Maryland (USA); Ms. Alicia Izquierdo, Deputy Mayor of Málaga (Spain); Mr. Martin van der Pütten, Head of International Relations of Dortmund (Germany); and Ms. Rebecca Lovell, Chief Operating Officer of Greater Seattle Partners, Seattle (USA).

At the assembly, Mr. Jang-Woo Lee, Mayor of Daejeon, was elected President of GINI, and Mr. Marc Elrich, County Executive of Montgomery County, was elected Vice President.

The forum wrapped up with a proposal from the Málaga delegation to host the 2026 Global Innopolis Forum and Leaders Assembly in Málaga, Spain.
